Where She Went by Gayle Forman

I've been sitting in front of this computer for ten minutes straight basically trying to write this review getting nothing. Okay, so maybe it was more like five, but that's not the point. The point is that this book is incredibly hard for me to write a review of because it was perfect. So 5 out of 5 stars just because it was that great.

Where She Went by Gayle Forman
5 out of 5 stars!
Yup, it's out.
Summary from Goodreads.com: It's been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam's life forever.

Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard's rising star and Adam is LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia's home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future - and each other.

Told from Adam's point of view in the spare, lyrical prose that defined If I Stay, Where She Went explores the devastation of grief, the promise of new hope, and the flame of rekindled romance.

There's one thing that stays the same throughout If I Stay and Where She Went: the beautiful writing or the spare, lyrical prose. Either way, it kind of reminds me of Maggie Stiefvater's writing style, with the same trademark beauty and awesomeness you have to devour. Even though Adam's mad and all at Mia, the beauty's still there in the writing. That takes skill, which I'm glad to say that Gayle Forman possesses.

I love the strength of the love between Adam and Mia. Even after three years, Adam can't stop thinking about her. And vice versa for Mia. I can't believe that it's that strong: their connection, their bond, their LOVE. (I'm sorry if this is cheesy, but it's true.) And I also love everything else as well.

I wasn't ready to have Mia in the story after what she did to Adam. So when they met, I was kind of tearing my skull out of my body. Kind of. But when Mia explains why she left and why she did what she did, I felt heartbroken. Speechless. Devoured. And I felt like crying. It was just that touching and loads and loads more.

Then there was the ending. I loved the ending, bittersweet, beautiful and just the way the reader wants it to end. (Think rekindled romance in the summary.) And I couldn't believe how amazing it was. It made me cry happy tears, well at least try to. It made me want to find Gayle Forman and thank her for such a perfect ending.

But most of all, it made me happy.
:) (Hopeful smile for another Gayle Forman book... hopefully.)
